CORAL’S Reef

Hello

My Name is Coral

I don’t Swim in a Reef

In the Depth of the Sea

Yet I Fancy Myself to be as Beautiful as

The Coral There

Not Deadly as a Coral Snake

I Dwell on Land

Not Beneath the Surface

Of the Coral Sea

I am a Christian

A Deaf One

Newly Embarked Upon my Journey

Into my Graceless Golden Years

I always asserted

That I would Never

Grow Old Gracefully

I Supposed

I would stay Graceful

While Refusing to Age

Time has a Way

Of changing the Mind

As it Sneaks Up

AND

SUDDENLY

One is Old

Never to return again

To Those Stolen Days of Youth

Hey, Helen Keller got it right when she said, “Turn your face to the sun and the shadows will fall behind you”

ULTIMATE ALBATROSS

Coral Gathman Cook

The Ultimate Albatross

That hangs about my neck

Is Virtue in me

Which will not let me go the easy way

This awesome weight

Which bows me to the ground

Also lifts me up that I might stand strong

If I but let it have its way

All in me has given way

Yet I cannot abandon Virtue

I cannot bear to live

But because of her I do not dare to die

In the bitter end I cling to Virtues

I thought never were attained

And I see them surface just in time

To stay me on this rugged course

Angels at My Back

Every time I read it, I glory in the strength of an Omnipotent God glorifying Him as it pours out through my weakness.

Mine is a commitment to the absolute sanctity of life, and to the sole right of God to give it and to take it away. My driving passion is to never hold my life too dear, nor too hastily cast off it off. Trauma, tragedy, terror, torment and even torture have been my lot, but I have never been alone in my pain. The One who created me has never left my side. In God I find my solace. In God I find my strength, and in God I found my salvation.
